Description : the highly elaborate and complex form with elongated snout in the form a stylized alligator with teeth bared and supplanted by a human face with large rectangular nose and bulging eyes divided by a geometrically cut medial ridge flanked by erect animal (antelope?) ears beneath a series of curving horns including a central forward spiralling projection, and pierced around a rectangular rim for attachment, the whole decorated with intricate polychrome raised geometric motif, pigments of red, green, white, ochre, and black. height 55in. These highly decorative masks represent images from the spiritual world of the Nalu.
