Description : Sickness mask Ibibio, Nigeria wood, black patina, traces of kaolin, of oval hollowed form, big almond-shaped pierced eyes, rounded cheeks flanking a deformed nose, an oval teeth-revealing mouth underneath, raised scarification marks on forehead and temples, bonnet of raffia bast on the back, pierced around the rim, slightly dam., abrasion, various ethnical groups produced sickness masks, for example the Ibibio, the Yoruba and the West-Pende. Aside of gangosa pharyngitis above all facial paralysis is depicted.
