Description : This exquisite piece was carved in the early to mid-20th century. The height of this figure suggests that it served as a spirit figure on an altar belonging to a senior member of poro. It features original rope accents on the neck and arms, and is carved with a bowl on its head to hold magical elements. Measures approximately 38 x 6 with a total weight of 10 lbs. Provenance: These pieces were collected over a period of several decades out of collections from America and throughout Europe, including France, Germany, Belgium, and Amsterdam beginning in the early 1960s. The items in this collection have been identified by George Mack, former director of the Arizona African Art Museum.
