Description : SCULPTURE BY WILLIAM ANTHONY JORDAN, AFRICAN VOODOO MASKS I spent some time in West Africa and developed an interest in the old art. Voodoo priests always employed several sculptures to make masks and other carvings used in their work. The work I have seen was outstanding in its quality and imagination. THE JUDGE MASK finished in white and grey with yellow highlights, 24in. high (Illustrated) Local elders would appoint a judge to hold court in the district. The appointed judge would wear this mask to keep his identity secret, thus reducing the risk of reprisal, no sympathy from the man wearing this mask
