Description : Ancient Egypt, Late Period, ca. 712 to 300 BCE. A rare example of a cast bronze atef crown, with two curling ostrich feathers, one on either side, symbol of Upper Egypt and the cult of the underworld god Osiris. A uraeus - the representation of the sacred serpent worn on the headdresses of Egyptian deities and sovereigns - is below the feathers. The feathers stand atop a small, cylindrical base that would have allowed this item to be slotted into a statue or altar. Size: 3.45 W x 6 H (8.8 cm x 15.2 cm), 6.55 H (16.6 cm) on included custom stand.
