Description : Africa, Mali, Dogon area, Djenne culture, ca. 800 to 1000 CE. Very rare and desirable bronze statuette of a standing man. He stands with arms slightly apart slight indication of loin-type cloth around waist, long beard hangs from his chin. All of the bronzes from the Pickard Collection and have been checked out with a museum expert on ancient bronze who worked for both the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Sackler Foundation. It is extremely rare to find small, ancient African bronzes that are authentic. These are the real deal! 2-1/8 (5.4cm) H.
