Description : A nice piriform Pre-Dynastic alabaster mace head, Naqada II or III, c. 3,600 - 3,100 BC, with nice horizontal banding. H: 1 ¾ in (4.5 cm). Ex Cecil Best collection, London (1882 - 1973). The piriform or round mace head was used throughout Egypt and the Levante and replaced the disk-type mace during the Naqada II period of Pre-Dynastic Egypt.
