This is the rating and price for Peloponnesian / Laconian Bronze Imp, Ex-Hesperia, 1990

Description : Classical World, Peloponnesian, possibly Laconian, ca. 550 to 525 BCE. A cast-bronze nude male presenting a dynamic pose - facing front and running to the right with his hands on his hips. This is known as the Knielauf pose frequently seen in depictions of gorgons and silens. His muscular legs support his unwavering pose while bent arms and clenched hands rest on his hips for balance. Almond-shaped eyes, a petite nose, full lips, and a finely-incised beard comprise his expressive countenance, all beneath a coiffure which falls just below his shoulder blades. Given that the piece is finely finished on both the front and the back, this is not an applique. Perhaps it was intended to be a finial on an ancient vessel or piece of furniture. The figure is covered in layers of lustrous green, blue-green, and russet patina, imbuing it with an elegant presentation! Size: 1.875 W x 2.375 H (4.8 cm x 6 cm), 2.7 H (6.9 cm) on included custom stand. This piece was featured in a Hesperia auction where it sold for $50,000 (Hesperia Arts Auction, LTD. Egyptian, Near Eastern and Classical Greek and Roman Antiquities Part II - November 27, 1990 - Lot 7 ). According to their description, the Kneilauf pose is traditionally seen in depictions of gorgons and silens, however, given that this figure does not possess a tail, it is not a silen. The Hesperia description also suggests that the figure may have been part of a group, such as Apollo pursuing Tityos.
