This is the rating and price for Osiris Ushabti With Hairband & Basket, Egypt, 22Nd-23Rd Dyn.

Description : Quartzite glazed in dark blue Egypt, Third Intermediate Period, 22nd to 23rd Dynasty Ushabti of the god of the dead, Osiris With black painted headband and basket on the back The writing 'Osiris' is still visibleof the formerly painted hieroglyphics Dimensions: 9.5 x 3.7 x 2.4 cm(height x width x depth) Provenance: Private Collection Bruno Wertz Scientific research: Dr. Jan Moje, Free University of Berlin (see references below) The present piece is a funerary offering, a so-called ushabti, which appeared as a 'substitute' body for the deceased person in ancient Egypt. The piece originates from the Third Intermediate Period, the 22 υ nd to the 23 υ rd Dynasty (946/945-714/712 BCE). This ushabti was made of quartzite glazed in dark blue, appearing in the form of the god of the dead Osiris, an in mummy form, with the typical wig of three long parts and free ears. Characteristic for this ushabti is a black painted hairband knotted at the back of the head. The ushabti has the arms crossed in front of the breast holding two crosiers. Interesting is also the preserved black painted basket on the back, serving as a basket to carry things. On the front side a subsequent column of black painted hieroglyphics has mainly washed off, however, the writing 'Osiris'isstill identifiable. The condition of the ushabti is age-accordingly well and complete with usual traces. Atmospheric conditions have ablated the face largely. The lettering has become unidentifiable through washing off. Embrasures are visible on the right shoulder, and on the back of the head. Traces of glue of a former mounting on a Plexiglas plinth, are visible on the lower side. The dimensions of the figure are 9.5 x 3.7 x 2.4 cm(height x width x depth).
