Description : Rare Egyptian glass mosaic inlay tile with Horus falcon bust in vibrant white, green, black, blue and yellow colours. The falcon bust is seen on both sides and is framed with a translucent dark blue glass. Ptolemaic Period, ca. 332 - 31 B.C. Excellent condition! A comparable piece is seen in the Groppi Collection : Christie's Antiquities, London, April 26th 2012, no. 87. The piece offered here may be from the same workshop as the Christie's example. Glasmosaik mit Büste des Horus. Glasmosaik mit Büste des Horus. Ptolemäische Epoche, circa 332 - 31 v. Chr. H 1,3cm, B 1,1cm. Glasmosaik Inlay mit Darstellung eines doppelansichtigen Falken in leuchtendem Weiß, Gelb, Grün, Blau und Schwarz, umgeben von einem dunkelblauen, durchscheinenden Rahmen. Sehr seltene und perfekte Arbeit! Kleine Absplitterung am unteren Rand, sonst perfekt erhalten. Vgl. dieses Stück mit dem Exemplar der Groppi Collection : Christie's Antiquities, London, 26. April 2012, Nr. 87. Der Vergleich legt nahe, dass beide Mosaike aus derselben Werkstatt stammen könnten.
