Description : Up for bid at this auction is a fine example of a lost wax casted statue created by the Dogon people of West Africa The Dogon used whatever metal they had available ranging from brasses to bronzes as well as copper and iron or any combination that was castable. A correct metallurgical description would be a copper alloy. This statue was created in the 20th century. Dogon art is becomming harder to obtain due to the increasing conflicts within Mali. Nice addition to your ethnographic collection or home decoration. Will be based before shipping.
