Reiter, BerlinThe tribe of Iatmul, which can be found at the middle Sepik river, coated skulls of important, deceased men with reddish clay. Then a new face was modeled and decorated with the former face painting of the members. Such skulls were then honored ritual in ceremonies.Literature: Anthony J. P.
