Details: These vintage, hand-carved wooden canes and/or staves were part of a collection of folk art and artifacts assembled by a teacher who traveled in east Africa in the 1950s and 1960s. Leading the group is a twisted cane made of carved ebony detailed with ivory. It is 32.5 long. The next piece, 36 long with a spiral shank and circular head, may be a ceremonial staff. Two simpler pieces complete the lot: a lightly carved wooden staff 35.5 long, and a plain, curved cane with a tapered ivory head and ivory tip. It is 33.5 tall.
