This is the rating and price for Graeco-Romano Bronze Casket Foot - Griffin

Description : Greco-Roman, ca. 2nd century BCE to 3rd century CE. A charming cast bronze foot for a casket, cauldron, or small piece of furniture, in the form of a standing griffin. The creature's pointed ears and bulging eyes, above a downcurved snout, form the face. The wings thrust backward, serving as a platform for attachment. The lower body terminates in a round base created to support the full weight of the object. The griffin, half eagle and half lion, was a fierce symbol of divine power. The tradition was long lasting - we know of examples from ancient Iran and Egypt that are from ca. 3000 BCE - and the animal continued to appear in classically-inspired art into the early modern period. Size: 1.2 W x 4.55 H (3 cm x 11.6 cm), 4.95 H (12.6 cm) on included custom stand.
