This is the rating and price for Graeco-Roman Marble Satyr Head,Attributes Of Zeus Ammon, 1976

Description : An impressive Graeco-Roman marble head of a satyr with attributes of Zeus-Ammon, c. 1st-2nd Century AD, wearing mustache and short beard, his hair in tight curls and a ram’s horn on either side of his head. His features are neatly carved and resemble some of the earlier portraits of the emperor Septimius Severus (AD 193 - 211). H: 9 in (22.8 cm). A nice piece with mineral deposits within the recesses, mounted on a heavy square base. According to the publishing of this piece, this unusual symbolic combination is a product of the late Hellenistic period and the attempt to represent 'the mythological triumph of Dionysus in India and the real or legendary achievements of Alexander the Great in Egypt and the East'.
