Description : Gorgeous, colorful and intricate Coptic textile panel, Ex Santa Barbara Museum of Art. Egypt, c. 3rd - 4th Century AD, linen and wool, probably from a tunic. Central strip in colors of red, blue, green, white and orange, the outer edge decorated with rows of waves, in red with shite outline. All on a beige background. Textile measures 10 1/4 in x 4 1/4 in (26 x 10.8cm), frame 11 1/4 in x 5 3/4 in (28.6 x 12.7cm). Ex Santa Barbara Museum of Art deaccession, with original museum label with donor on back of frame. Museum catalog number 0.61.77.4, donor: 'Gift of J. H. Schaffner'.
