Description : Nell Kaye (South African, 1912 - 1969) Female Head, in verdigris patinated bronze, signed in cast N. Kaye at base of neck, and possible foundry mark LB, and showing the long necked figure looking up into the distance, mounted on a mahogany block, the underside with label reading Rhoda O. Stan Fisher and inscribed in pencil NELL KAYE 6.5 H with base. Note: Nell Kaye was a well-known midcentury South African sculptor who was knwon for her portrait busts. Her work may be found today in the Pretoria Art Museum, as well as the South African National Gallery, Cape Town.
