Description : Ancient Egypt, New Kingdom/Third Intermediate Period, ca. 1550 to 712 BCE. A pair of fine faience scarabs. One has the hieroglyphs for Horus-Ra-Mes on the base and is pierced laterally, made to be worn by the living as a protective charm. The other has a deeply impressed base depicting Horus, the royal cobra, and Maat's feather of truth. Also pierced so it could be worn.
