Description : Egypt, Ramesside Period, 19th/20th Dynasty, ca. 1292-1075 BCE. Steatite scarab beetle decorated with a linearly rendered man who is flanked by crocodiles. For the related motif of a man holding crocodiles by their tails, cf. UC61013 in the Petrie Archive. T-shaped incision on the back of the scarab, wing-cases marked with tiny V-cuts. .6L x .5W x .3H. Provenance: ex-Swiss private collection, since the 1960's. All items in this auction have been legally acquired, are legal to sell, and guaranteed to be as described or your money back.
