Description : Egypt, Middle Kingdom, 11th to 12th Dynasty, ca. 2030 to 1640 BCE. A hand-carved wooden forearm and left hand with a cut tenon at the end of the elbow forming a joint attachment. The hand is curled into a fist with a pierced center for gripping a scepter or tool and is naturalistically rendered with delineated fingernails and remains of black pigments. This arm would perhaps have been part of a pharaoh, shrine, or funerary figure.
