Medium : Carved in sunken relief, with a male figure standing facing right, some ochre paint remaining, holding a long staff in his left hand, and a short sceptre in his right, with close cropped black hair, wearing a blue broad collar and short kilt with triangular apron, flanked by two columns of sunken hieroglyphs listing the titles of the deceased, the left hand column reads, 'sole companion of the Palace (ie king), controller of the cultivated land, Khnumhotep', the column on the right with, 'Treasurer of the king of Lower Egypt, sole companion Khnumhotep', Size : 43.8 x 35.5cmNotes : Provenance:Ex Swiss private collection, acquired from Koutoulakis Zimmerman in 1983, formerly with Phocian Tano (d.1971), an antiquities dealer in Cairo.Bonhams 3, auctioneer, London, UK
