Description : New Kingdom, 1550-1070 BC. A large glazed composition lower half statuette of Thoth in baboon form, sitting, resting his forepaws on his knees, tail curled around from the rear on the D-shaped base with slot to the underside, body fur well delineated and with square pectoral on the chest. Cf. Andrews, C. Amulets of Ancient Egypt, London, 1994, item 24(b). 240 grams, 80mm (3 1/4). Property of a respected gentleman, from his private collection formed 1965-2018, previously with Cahn Auktionen AG, 16 September 2010, lot 80, formerly in the private Belgian collection of Mr C.R.
