Description : Late Period, 26th Dynasty, circa 590-570 B.C. Originally either a theorophorus or a naophorous statue, the knees held together on an integral block base, with a tab from the shendyt kilt between the knees, seated on his heels, the toes splayed, the base with a continuous horizontal band of hieroglyphs visible on three sides and with three partially visible vertical columns of text on the back pillar, inscribed for a deceased man 'Neferibre-Em-Akhet' and a mother 'Mer-Neith', the third column on the back pillar appears to end with the same woman's name preceded by a different male name beginning 'Nes', most probably 'Nes-Shu-Tefnut', 8½in. (21.6cm.) high, chipped, damaged
