Description : Ancient Egypt, New Kingdom to Late Dynastic Period, 18th to 31st Dynasty, ca. 1550 to 332 BCE. A gorgeous necklace of wearable form strung with dozens of petite beads made from faience and stone. Interspersed through the composition are 14 ancient beads made from 84.5% to 85.4% gold (equivalent to 20K+) in spherical, cylindrical, or carinated forms that imbue the accessory with a pop of lustrous color. A pendant known as a wadjet (also wedjat or Eye of Horus) is displayed in the center and bears an applied black glass pupil on one side. Size (necklace): 22.75 L (57.8 cm): (wadjet pendant): 1 W x 0.8 H (2.5 cm x 2 cm), gold quality: 84.5% to 85.4% (equivalent to 20K+) Provenance: private New York, New York, USA collection, ex-Walter Crawford collection, Arizona, USA, from 1960-1970 All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back. Condition report : Wearable as shown and strung in modern times. Wadjet pendant and all beads are ancient, stringing and clasp components are modern. Light abrasions and nicks to some beads, with minor softening to some finer details on wadjet pendant, otherwise intact and very good. Great patina on ancient gold beads, and nice remains of color on non-gold beads.
