Description : Egypt, Late Dynastic Period, 26th Dynasty, ca. 664 to 525 BCE. A mold-formed faience ushabti of a tall and slender form that is covered in soft sage green glaze. The figure stands in mummiform atop an integral plinth, holds a pick and hoe in arms crossed atop the chest, and has a seed bag draped over his left shoulder. The countenance exhibits almond-shaped eyes beneath heavy lids, a perky nose above full lips, and ears framed by the lappets of his tripartite wig. A faint column of black hieroglyphs is visible along the front of the legs and chest and perhaps provides Wawa as the name of the deceased. Size: 1.75 W x 6.6 H (4.4 cm x 16.8 cm), 7.1 H (18 cm) on included custom stand. Condition report : Minor nicks and abrasions to plinth, both hands, face, and top of dorsal pillar, with pitting in scattered areas, and fading to glaze pigment and hieroglyphs. Nice preservation to overall figural form. Hieroglyphs are very faint.
