Description : Egypt, Late Dynastic Period, 26th to 31st Dynasty, ca. 664 to 332 BCE. A hand-built faience ushabti of a petite size that is covered in lustrous blue glaze. The minimalist figure stands in mummiform atop fused legs, holds an incised pick and hoe in arms crossed atop the chest, and has a seed bag incised behind the left shoulder. The face features protruding ovoid eyes, a broad nose, bulging cheeks, and a false beard, all framed within the lappets of a tripartite wig. A lovely example of ancient Egyptian funerary tradition! Size: 0.75 W x 2.75 H (1.9 cm x 7 cm) Provenance: private Toronto, Ontario, Canada collection, by descent, acquired in Egypt in 1894 to 1896 All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.
