Description : Ancient Egypt, New Kingdom, 18th Dynasty, reign of Smenkhkare, ca. 1335 to 1334 BCE. A mold-formed faience amulet of a petite size containing four enclosed hieroglyphs representing the cartouche of Smenkhkare (also Smenkhkara or Smenkh-ka-ra, He who Beautifies the Spirit of God). The four hieroglyphs including (from top to bottom) a sun disk, a scarab, an ankh, and three vertical lines, and the entire amulet is enveloped in lustrous blue glaze.
