Description : Very rare. The Mummy is in very good condition, partially unwrapped to reveal the black bitumen coating and the beak of the falcon. An x-ray reveals an ancient iron pin that has been inserted through the head and body to make the mummy more stable. Measures 11 in length. Falcons were considered sacred in later periods of Egyptian history because they were believed to possess the spirit of a god or goddess. Typically the Falcon was considered a manifestation of Horus on Earth. With x-ray analysis it is determined that this is a real and complete falcon specimen. The Mummy is believed to be a kestel, Falco tinnunculus. Includes X-Ray. The artifact was legally exported from Egypt prior to the 1970 UNESCO convention, and purchased in the 1920's where it has resided in a private collection. Measures 9 1/2” x 2” x 1 1/2” Includes
