Mold-made, lentoid-shaped flask of light green faience, thin neck, flared spout and two small lug handles that might be an abstract representation of baboons. The collar of each side is decorated in three rows of impressed chevrons and geometric patterns. Each side of flask is decorated with hieroglyphs. New Year's flask were so named because such flasks once held a liquid used in a ceremony to mark the beginning of the new agricultural year, which began in late summer, when the Nile River began to flood.
