Description : Very long Egyptian turquoise blue glazed composition necklace (acq. 1906 Egypt, Dubois, exhibited museums: Met NY 1920, Boston 1945, MoM CA 1968) with a central ball bead (1 dia /2 cm) of the eye of Ra strung together with a variety of (approx) 23 fly amulets & lentoid, round & tubular beads & seal, small green stone wedjat & a few animal amulets.

Notes : In ancient Egyptian mythology The Eye of Ra being a feminine counterpart to the sun god Ra and a violent force that subdues his enemies. The Eye is an extension of Ra's power. The fly amulet dates back to late Predynastic period as protection or empowerment.
