Description : Egyptian Faience Djed Pillar Necklace, Late Period, ca. 664 - 332 BC, Featuring eight djed pillar amulets, of bright blue faience, their slender tapering form featuring a tall broad shaft with ribbed capital surmounted by four short horizontal bars, all pierced at the back for attachment and strung as part of a necklace comprising ring and cylindrical faience beads associated with magical power. Notes: The djed-pillar was closely linked with Osiris, and its shape was interpreted as a representation of his backbone. suggesting stability and endurance. Confering these qualities on the deceased, they were placed within the mummy wrappings.
