Description : **First Time At Auction** Ancient Egypt, Third Intermediate to Late Dynastic Period, 21st to 31st Dynasty, ca. 1070 to 332 BCE. An attractive necklace constructed with dozens of petite glazed faience beads covered in a myriad of polychrome hues. The singular strands on either end are adorned with groups of seed-form beads that alternate with tubular beads before each end branches into a trio of shorter strands, a pair of miniature wadjet (also wedjat or Eye of Horus) pendants rest at each branching point. Centered on the necklace is a slender, green-glazed pendant depicting Bes, the bandy-legged dwarf deity, who stands atop attenuated legs and wears his signature feather crown. Condition report : Wearable as shown and strung in modern times. Faience beads and Bes pendant are ancient, stringing and sterling silver loop and bar clasp are modern. Minor nicks and abrasions to some beads, with light fading to glaze pigment on some beads, and softening to some finer details on Bes pendant, otherwise intact and very good. Nice preservation to glaze pigment in most areas.
