Description : Ancient Egypt, New Kingdom, 18th Dynasty, Amarna Period, reign of Akhenaten, ca. 1352 to 1336 BCE, Late Dynastic Period, 26th to 31st Dynasty, ca. 664 to 332 BCE. A fabulous necklace comprised of dozens of faience beads in a variety of colors. The necklace boasts 24 slender tube beads in shades of blue and green which are interspersed with groups of several seed beads in white, citrine, vermilion, cobalt, teal, and fuchsia hues. The bottom of the necklace displays a sapphire-blue Amarna grape cluster pendant above a horizontal bar flanked with more beads and finally terminating in another grape cluster pendant of a deep purple color. Strung in modern times and capped with a gold-filled loop and lobster clasp combo, this is a beautiful example of wearable ancient fashion! Size (necklace): 23 L (58.4 cm), size of largest bead (purple grapes): 0.625 H (1.6 cm).
