Description : Absolutely superb ancient Egyptian carnelian necklace (acq. 1906 Egypt, Dubois, exhibited museums: Met NY 1920, Boston 1945, MoM CA 1968) with an original arrangement of 5 carnelian openwork divine barque amulets with full & crescent moons, complimented by 8 baboon dog faced Thoth amulets (manifestation of the moon god) (1/2x1/2 - 3/4x3/4(1.25cm-1.5cm ). This composition linked its owner with regeneration as in the waning & waxing of the moon. Interspersed with 4 gold cylinder beads with applied gold wire (3/8long / 1 cm) & continues with carnelian tubular beads interspersed with small round carnelian beads. The entire necklace strung together with wire or string. Newer gold clasp at each end. Absolutely a breathtaking piece!
