Description : Middle Kingdom, Dynasty XIII, Circa 1783-1640 B.C. Perhaps originally from a squatting statue, depicted wearing a shoulder-length wig or head covering with inward-pointing lappets, his severe expression characterized by thin, protruding lips, straight nose, large prominent ears, and convex rimmed eyes with hooded upper lids, beneath sharp horizontal brows, the left eye protruding, the right eye flattened, as though depicting a cataract or blindness in the right eye, his left hand at his chest, palm inwards, above the off-center tie-knot of his wrap-around kilt, the slender back pillar with an incised hieroglyphic inscription, preserving the first characters of a htp-di-nsw formula 10 1/4 in. (26 cm.) high
