This is the rating and price for Egyptian Bronze Situla
Description : Egypt, Late Dynastic Period, ca. 712 to 332 BCE. This cast bronze situla has a clear design of striding, profile Pharaoh figures repeated around its body. The pointed bottom of the Egyptian situla - Latin for bucket or pail, and used to refer to a wide range of similarly-shaped artifacts - suggests that it was made either to rest on its side or to be placed into a specialized holder or loose soil. This particular one also has two loops for suspension. A small situla like this - the common type found from ancient Egypt - was probably used to hold some kind of precious liquid. Size: 3.9 L x 1.2 W (9.9 cm x 3 cm)
Provenance: Ex - Hovsepian Collection acquired before 1980
