A remarkable carved-wood sculpture of a seated ancestor figure painted black and embellished with a high burnish. The stylized figure's long, slender arms hang from his square shoulders, paralleling his narrow torso, and folding together on his lap. Resting atop a thick neck, his sizable head displays a pair of immense almond-shaped eyes, a flat nose, a straight mouth, and a pointed chin. A rounded coiffure frames his stylized visage. Size: 2 W x 5.375 H (5.1 cm x 13.7 cm), 6.875 H (17.5 cm) on included custom stand.
