This is the rating and price for Early 20Th C. African Fang Wood Mask

Description : **Originally Listed At $350** West Africa, Gabon, Ogwe River Basin, Fang peoples, ca. early to mid 20th century CE. A hand-carved wooden mask, with elongated anthropomorphic features. The face is highly stylized with square-shaped lips and a long protruding nose. The eye sockets are slightly recessed, but the eyelids protrude outward with slits in the center for the mask wearer to see through. A simple incised line on the brow indicates the hairline. A spiritual cult of the ancestors, which centered around familial lineages, created these masks for initiation rites. Drilled perforations along the peripheries were used for attaching the mask to a costume or adding raffia tassels.
