Description : African art. Dogon, Mali. Walu antelope mask. Wood, fiber pigments and kaolin. Visible flaws and signs of use.. Antelope or Walu mask characterized by long curved horns, straight ears, triangular eyes and rectangular mouth, within a face-container with square geometric volumes alternating between full and empty, typical of masterful Dogon sculpture. Two side holes testify to us that this mask was also held on the head by the dancer thanks to the fiber ties still present, but especially by biting the branch inserted between two holes . The colors of this mask, black pigment and kaolin, have come down to us particularly washed out and worn. Cm 19,00 x 66,00 x 19,00.
