Description : A group of 2 Luristan bronzes. The first a decorative, ribbed shallow bowl, c. early 1st millennium BC, H: 3.2 cm, D: 18 cm. The second a souvenir piece of sheet metal from the excavation of Troy, c. 1500 BC, L: 7 cm, H: 3.1 cm. Label on back reads 'Bronze from Schliemann .... Mycenae. 1500 BC sheet metal.' The bowl has several holes, but is solid and has original patina. Ex property from the collection of Joseph Klein (1899-1987), New York City. Mr. Klein sought out and acquired these souvenirs as part of his vast collecting interests. Said to have collected in the manner of an 18th century connoisseur, his overall collection showcased his diverse array of artifacts acquired over a period of 45 years and included the art of ancient China, Egypt, Persia, Greece and Rome.
