This is the rating and price for Dan Tribal African Ceremonial Wooden Mask

Description : -Dan Masks- -Liberia & Ivory Coast- Dan masks are usually used by male associations for rituals, education, social control, and entertainment. These masks are sacred objects to, the Dan, providing protection as well as a channel for communication with the spirit world. The Dan believe that their world is split into the human domain, which is represented by the village and its people, and the spiritual domain, which, is represented by the forest and its spirits. Masks were thought to embody the most powerful of spirit forces called gle. Each gle has its own character, and brought order and control to village life. When a dancer wears a Dan mask, he, becomes the gle of that mask, speaking in the language of the spirits which can be interpreted by a wise man. There are many different Dan mask types, each with a distinct function during rituals or festivals., Some played an important part in tribal rites, while others were simply for entertainment. There were also small passport masks which were used for personal protection while traveling or living away from home.
