Description : Wooden West African Dan mask possibly used for ceremonial or ritual purposes. Dan masks were believed to have protective properties. This mask has the typical high forehead, high pouting lips, and a nose. The eyes and mouth are carved out, so that the mask can be used. There are two small holes at either side with a rope attached. There is also a small hole under the chin. The reverse has some missing wood, but overall very good condition. Measures 10 inches tall by 6 inches wide.
