Description : African art. Dan, Ivory Coast. Small hardwood mask with dark patina. Provenance: ex. Franco Monti collection. Delightful little Dan mask, of what were once called passport masks and were used in Africa to represent a notable in long-distance trade transactions. A few knife strokes made the eyes, while the nose and mouth are the result of removing from a triangle, as in the best Dan sculptural tradition. Nice patina with obvious signs of use. Cm 4,50 x 9,50 x 3,00.
