Description : Excellent large bronze statue of the Egyptian goddess Taweret. Standing on her hind legs, her front legs rest above large hieroglyphs signifying 'protection'. She bares her teeth and sticks out her tongue. Tawaret is the protective ancient Egyptian goddess of childbirth and fertility. The deity is usually depicted as a bipedal female hippo with feline attributes, drooping female human breasts, the limbs and legs of a lion, and the back and tail of a Nile crocodile.
