This is the rating and price for Black History Inventory: 69348 Massive African Chief'S Golden Manilla Bracelet

Description : Black History Inventory: 69348 Massive African Chief's Golden Manilla Bracelet African Tribal Bracelet, also known as a Manillain Choice Very Fine. A large, six pound, bronze bracelet or armband which has been dipped and heavily coated in Gold, a so-called Manillain believed to be from West Africa, perhaps Benin. Used by African tribes as a sign of great wealth or by their Chieftain. Made of a solid piece of bronze, originally cast flat in a sand mold, then formed into a semicircle, finished on the outside and gold dipped, with the resulting general appearance of being made of solid gold. It is not, but does have a significant, heavy outer gold coating of value Because of the heavy weight (this piece is about 6 pounds, with likely about an ounce of gold coating), it is doubtful if it was used in everyday wear. Rather, it was stored for important ceremonial occasions. It fits well around the arm of a normal adult male and is a very impressive, yet simple, decorative golden ornament. It appears to be at least 100 years old, if not older, as is difficult for us to date. This is a wonderful, highly important African artifact and sure to be the object of spirited bidding.
