This is the rating and price for Bete Nyabwa Spider Mask

Description : Metal hardware along the rim of the forehead. Beaded metal and cloth features below the chin. On a black metal base. The form represents the legs of a spider, and the legs hide the face in mystery. In the past masks such as this were considered very aggressive and performed during periods of social strife and war, whereas today they are danced primarily during funerals or are present during judicial proceedings or at times will dance to simply entertain clansmen and villagers. Provenance: Estate of Jack Faxon, Birmingham, MI. Michigan Senator and creator of the Michigan Council for the Arts.
