Description : This piece is a maternity figure, with a small child on the back. It features a beautiful and elaborate headdress and a string of red beads around the waist. This sculpture was crafted in the early to mid 20th century, possessing a fine patina with sacrificial encrustation and a strong muscular form. Piece is in good condition for its age, showing signs of use with a very nice patina. Measures approximately 20.5 x 8.25 x 6.25 with a total weight of 5 lbs. Provenance: These pieces were collected over a period of several decades out of collections from America and throughout Europe, including France, Germany, Belgium, and Amsterdam beginning in the early 1960s. The items in this collection have been identified by George Mack, former director of the Arizona African Art Museum.
