Description : Egypt, Pre-Dynastic, 3500-3000 BCE. Piriform stone weapon with cylindrical drill hole in center. Once attached to a wooden shaft and used as a weapon to strike at an enemy. The piriform or round mace head was used throughout Egypt and the Levant, and replaced the disk-type mace during the Naqada II period of Pre-Dynastic Egypt. 2-5/8D. Provenance: Ex-private G.
