Size : Approximate length: 9 (23 cm)Provenance : Given by the Egyptian Government in 1877 to Dr. Christian Fenger (see biography). Remaining in the Fenger family until 2013. Copy of notarized affidavit attesting to provenance, signed by Dr. Fenger's grandson, is available.Christian Fenger (1840-1902) was a Danish-born surgeon, pathologist, and instructor who became one of the most highly regarded surgeons in the United States. For his distinguished accomplishments he was knighted by the King of Denmark in 1901. From 1875 to 1877, Fenger worked in Egypt, treating eye diseases.
