Description : New Kingdom, Dynasty XIX-XX, 1307-1070 B.C. Depicting an open loop of material from the bound lower end from which hangs a long sash flanked by two folded loops, the details rendered by incision 2 1/8 in. (7.3 cm) high PROVENANCE Acquired by the previous owner circa 1955-1965 NOTES Tit amulets, also called the "Girdle of Isis," were prescribed by chapter 15b of the Book of the Dead to be made of red jasper, the color of the blood of the goddess. When placed on the neck of the mummy, "the power of Isis will be the protection of his body." See pp. 44-45 and the cover image in Andrews, Amulets of Ancient Egypt.
